The Stitches You’ll Need to Know

Since I love easy to crochet blankets, I knew that I had to design this one with some basic crochet stitches! I decided to use the single crochet, half double crochet, and double crochets!

I’ll link each one up below so you’ll have an easy reference to go back to if you get stuck.

Stitch Lessons

  1. Single Crochet = written single crochet tutorial & video single crochet lesson
  2. Half Double Crochet = written half double crochet tutorial & video half double crochet lesson
  3. Double Crochet = written double crochet & video double crochet lesson

Changing The Size of This Blanket is Incredibly Simple!

All you will need to know is that you will always start with a chain in a multiple of three (3) then add two (2) chains to that number.

Super easy right? I did not include detailed instructions to make this bigger or smaller but you can figure it out by using the multiple above.

Rather Have a PDF Version?

If you’d like the detailed PDF instructions for this baby blanket, I have them all together in a convenient PDF format that is available to purchase below.

Or you can grab the PDF baby blanket pattern & yarn as a kit from Lionbrand.com if you’d prefer too!

Rather just work on the pattern from here? Keep on scrolling down for the free version here on the blog to use.

The Yarn That’s Perfect for This Blanket

This blanket is designed with a new anti-pill yarn from Lion Brand called Basic Stitch.

It is an acrylic yarn that can hold up to everyday wear and tear! If it does pill, all you will need to do is throw it in the wash, and the pill will disappear, which is perfect for a busy household!

I suggest you take a look at the Lion brand website to see all the beautiful color choices that are available in solids, heathers and more. Check them out here.

The yarn for this post was generously supplied to me by my friends at Lionbrand.com! Thank you!

    Thanks

      Hi April.

There is! There is a section that talks about how to change size of the blanket about 6 paragraphs in. To change the size always start with a chain in a multiple of three (3) then add two (2) chains

      Happy Crocheting!

Your row 11&12 is not where it should be in the pattern. Instead of being after 9&10, it’s after 21&22 on the free pattern on your website. I already made the mistake and don’t feel like frogging the whole second section, so I’ll just mimic the error on the other end. Thank you for the free pattern. It’s a beautiful stitch pattern.

Thanks, Audra! I fixed it! I probably moved it somehow when I was in there. Oops! Thanks for finding it, and I am so glad you like the pattern. 🙂

      Happy Crocheting!

How many skeins did you use??

      Hi Lois,
I used 150-160 yards of each, and each skein usually has 180 yards in it according to lionbrand.com, so approximately four total skeins.

      Happy Crocheting.

Krista. Did you make your blanket longer, because it is rectangle so it can’t be 36x 36?

      Hi Sharon,

It is a square. It just looks like a rectangle from the way I styled it for the photos.

Krista, Will you be uploading this pattern to Ravelry? I’ve saved this link, but I do like to keep my favorites saved in Ravelry as well — where I can use multiple “tags” for cross-referencing them with different words and ideas. Thanks!
