How to Make a Gamer Beanie

Learn all about the yarn and easy crochet stitches used in this hat so you’ll be able to make one for the gamer in your life!

The Yarn

This beanie uses worsted weight yarn and a size I crochet hook. I ended up using Red Heart Soft (because it’s soft!), and the yarn had the perfect colorways he wanted.

The Stitches

This beanie is made with basic crochet stitches, which is great for a beginner crocheter. If you can single crochet, half double crochet and double crochet then you’ll be good to make this hat!

  1. On the Gamer beanie…I am confused. The picture shows a hat which appears to use the front post stitch but the pattern only uses double and half-double stitches. The stitches using the dc and hdc makes a flat and not a raised look. What am I doing wrong…am I supposed to be doing front post stitches?
Also, it would really help to know the number of stitches at the end of each row.

    1. Hi,

It uses only double and half double crochet stitches. Since this was an old pattern, it didn’t have the stitch counts, but I just updated it to include them. Hope this helps!
