Crochet Scrap Scarf Pattern
Last weekend I came to the realization that I had FAR too many Lion Brand Woolspun yarn scraps lying around and decided to make a crochet scrap scarf with it!
Woolspun if you didn’t already know, is my favorite yarn bulky yarn and I have used it to make All about Ami’s Triple Luxe Cowl and several other projects of mine over the past few months.
The Scrap Yarn Scarf Crochet Pattern
To make this scarf, I used my leftover yarn scraps of Woolspun which is a size bulky five yarn.
Change yarn as needed or when you run out of the scrap yarn color you are working with. Also, be sure to use the recommended hook size that your chosen yarn recommends for best results.
- Chain 84 to start the scarf.
- If you use a scrap yarn of a different yarn weight, be sure to adjust the starting length to the size scarf you’d like. For example, if you try to chain 84 with a size 3 yarn, you will end up with a very tiny scarf! Use my scarf size chart for recommended sizes which is linked up below.
- Half double crocheted (hdc) back across the row; starting in the 2nd chain from the hook.
- Chain 1, turn your work and repeat the hdc across the row.
Repeat the steps above for a total of 14 rows, but you can add more or less depending on what you prefer the size of your scarf to be or how much yarn you have on hand.
To finish up the scarf, I then added fringe to the ends (9 fringe bunches on each end, 3 8″ strings in each bunch).
